Borked – Tribute to Mad Skill

Borked Guild did it again! It finally payed off polishing our tactics on Anub’arak, final boss in the Trial of the Grand Crusader. We were consistently bringing him into Phase 3 and got on our first kill „A Tribute to Skill“ with 35 tries remaining last Monday.

Now we even managed to improve our success and got „A Tribute to Mad Skill“, by killing the ugly bug with 48 tries remaining. Too bad that we had two stupid wipes before, but that leaves room for progress next reset! Really well done Borked!

Myrddin.de in new look!

Here it is, the new look of the site www.myrddin.de! It all started out when I noticed that Google often pointed visitors tot he wrong pages related to the search terms. I started the category „recent searches“ to write some posts to get google to point at better content by targeting at the exact search terms.

When browsing for information about wordpress I realized that the look of the website was quite old and the „cool myrddin 3D model“ (you can still find it under „My Characters„) cost a lot of loading time. Also there are some nice plugins that helped to improve serving content.

Now, if you come here via search engine, for example „mace rogue“ the right sidebar will show the search query and a list of related posts. At the end of each post there is a link to other posts dealing with similar content. If that doesn’t help you can use the search function ont he right or any list of tags, categories, pages. Hopefully you find what you are looking for now!

Just notice the rogue stuff is rather outdated sinc eI stopped playing „Slant, the Mace Rogue“ at the start of Tbc. Basically I am not trying to gather all information tha tis available, and prefer to provide summaries of Shaman related information and other „cool“ stuff, like for example taming garwal.

Everything is modular now which makes it easier to add and modify new features.I know there are still a few glitches, but I am working on resolving things asap.

Thanks for stopping by!

Don’t worry! New functions incoming!

While playing around with some wordpress functionalities I realized that my old theme was getting really old. No widget support and the posts are looking somewhat boring.

During the next days I’ll play around with themes and designs … If you realize that some things aren’t working as they should you should come back in a few days.

There will probably be minor design glitches, but the postings and comments should still be functioning. The new design will provide many useful interesting functions 🙂

TV-Series: Lost, Prison Break, Heroes, Supernatural

Its 03:25 am now and I have just finished watching another episode of Heroes. At first I had a lot of prejudiced against this series – I mean marvel kind of super heroes, new evolution to mankind, people developing their powers. It simply sounded so *yawn*
Everywhere you hear that the series is so good, which is usually another sign that Something is so mainstream that I do not like it. So I refused to even look at the series, but last week I was so bored that I finally started to watch the first episodes and I am really utterly impressed. I often find myself saying, damn its the best series I have ever seen.
Its the perfect mix of genres. How the characters are slowly drawn together, becoming aware of their strengths and the problems associated with it are well weaved into the more intense and thrilling story.

I also liked the first season of Lost, but when the season ended without some kind of solution or insight about the happenings on the island I was a little disappointed. I think at every end of an individual season should have some kind of ending, instead of having the main characters blown up while you have to wait 6 months to see who survived.
Also the second season did not have any major new informtion on what the island is all about. For me the story starved on the way through season 2 in annoying flashbacks. There are episodes in season 3 that I did not even bother to watch because it does not lead anywhere.

The first Season of prisonbreak was very thrilling as well, apart from a few unnecessary plots. But season 2 just seems to be artifically drawn to length. There must be a better way of advancing the story, than all the back and forth they are doing now.

A series that I totally love is Supernatural. Those 2 Winchester guys are so funny and cool. Especially Dean is a source for absolutely hilarious, cool statements. That combined with his affection to old cars and music form the 80’s make him my hero 😉
While the story is not as epic as other series I like that most episodes have a finish and develop the background story piece by piece.

Anyway I am so excited how Heroes will continue. I hope that Hiro, whom I find to be totally unique and funny, will be back soon.

Thanks for stopping by here!

In 1995 I started my first website and the University of Armed Forces in Germany in Hamburg and always liked to design them – that did not mean that I was realyl good at it 😉

About 10-15 years back I have read a nice book about the historical background of merlin and thus used the name myrddin from then on in all RPG’s I played, especially in MMORPG’s. It has been almost 10 years now that I have this domain active.
During the last years I have more or less used the website simply as a design project without much content. There were no updates and I did not check at the website for weeks and months.

My good old guild vanquish used wordpress to publish news of our progress in World of Warcraft and I thought it was a fantastic idea. Often I find snippets of interesting information and do not have the link handy, when I am asked for it. Sometimes I just have a nice picture that I want to share with others or want to have some information easy and fast accessible. So I started this site not as a real blog, just more as a nes system and online collection of bookmarks and snippets of information.
While there were no more than 3 visitors daily in August, those numbers have improved decent and especially the ratio of returning visitors is increasing steadily. This basically shows me that I am on the right path and I just wanted to say thanks!

The Name Slant, btw is taken from a novel of Lawrence Watt-Evans and is the name of the mainchar in his book „The Cyborg and the sorcerors“. The cyborg code-named “Slant“ was sent out as an Independent Reconaissance Unit during an interstellar war between Earth and its colonies, to discover if the colonies were still loyal to earth. Slant was controlled by his spaceship who would kill him and cause major damage to the planet as the slightest sign of disloyalty. This was probably the best book of scifi meets fantasy I have ever read and I started to use „Slant“ for my fighting characters.

Lack of updates

Sorry for recent the lack of uodates. After I left Blizzard Entertainment I was forced to to develop my patience in order to bear the bureaucracy of the French and German authorities.

Currently I moved to Pirmasens, the town where I grew up. Its beatufully located in the south western part of Germany, close to the french border. There is a lot of forest, castles and sandstone rocks everywhere. The financial power of the area is quite low, so its hard to find a job.

I am focussing on finding a job a little further north, close to Mainz and Wiesbaden, two federal state capital cities. The rural area is really nice and peaceful and the economic aspects promise a lot.
