Enhancement Shaman Craftable Items, Patch 4.2

The coming patch will introduce new craftable items for us Enhancement Shamans, which will become within a few days into Patch 4.2. These items are Dragonfire Gloves, (Itemlevel 378) and Earthen Scale Sabatons, (Itemlevel 378). As for weapons, Blizzard apparently gave Blacksmiths the ability to craft an Agility Sword and a Strength Axe, but you know fairly well which of these weapons we won’t be able to use, don’t you? Good that they recently blogged about avoiding this kind of itemization issues. My forum posts are up to date unanswered 😀 Anyway here are the items and the required crafting materials.

Craftable Enhancement Mail Gear (Ilevel 378)

If you are using Boots of Vertigo you will probably start by replacing them with Earthen Scale Sabatons. Itemization of these craftables isn’t too bad, I’d prefer hit & mastery though. But they seem to be a decent upgrade.

Pattern: Earthen Scale Sabatons
Requires Leatherworking (525)
Item Level 85
Use: Teaches you how to make Earthen Scale Sabatons.
Sell Price: 1g 87s 50c

Earthen Scale Sabatons
Binds when equipped
Feet Mail
1790 Armor
+282 Agility
+454 Stamina
[] Red Socket
Socket Bonus: +10 Agility
Durability 75 / 75
Requires Level 85
Item Level 378
Equip: Increases your critical strike rating by 197 (1.10% @ L85).
Equip: Increases your mastery rating by 187 (1.04 @ L85).
Sell Price: 15g 72s 48c

Requires Pristine Hide (8), Volatile Fire (40), Volatile Water (40), Living Ember (4), Chaos Orb (3)

These Living Embers are the only materials which we aren’t sure how to obtain, yet. The tooltip on wowhead states that they are refundable which hints that these can be bought with valor points, like primordial saronite in WotLK.

Pattern: Dragonfire Gloves
Requires Leatherworking (525)
Item Level 85
Use: Teaches you how to make Dragonfire Gloves.
Sell Price: 1g 87s 50c

Dragonfire Gloves
Binds when equipped
Hands Mail
1627 Armor
+282 Agility
+454 Stamina
[] Red Socket
Socket Bonus: +10 Agility
Durability 55 / 55
Requires Level 85
Item Level 378
Equip: Increases your critical strike rating by 197 (1.10% @ L85).
Equip: Increases your mastery rating by 187 (1.04 @ L85).
Sell Price: 10g 83s 65c

Requires Pristine Hide (8), Volatile Fire (40), Volatile Water (40), Living Ember (4), Chaos Orb (3)

For both items you will need:

  • Requires Pristine Hide x16
  • Volatile Fire x80
  • Volatile Water x80
  • Living Ember x8
  • Chaos Orb x6

Note, that you can buy a Pristine Hide for 10 Heavy Savage Leather at the Leatherworking Supplier (ask a guard for leatherworking trainer) in Orgrimmar or Stormwind. This is often much cheaper than the hides themselves. Good luck hunting for materials, better now then post reset, when the prices will skyrocket.

Other than that we can only mock Blizzard about forgetting Enhancement Shaman Weapons once more. Every other class gets a craftable 365 Weapon with Patch 4.2. It would have been easy to swap the stats of the Agility Sword and Strength Axe before the patch comes live.

  1. hey, are u still using ur darkmoon trinket in 4.2 ? it got nerfed recently, so i was just wondering if any of the 359 trinkets were better then it now.

    1. The trinket got nerfed to do only 7k damage per Lightning Strike and no longer be abe to crit. For me the tooltip said like 7800 Damage with mastery … and when you then add the loss of crits then it is probably pretty much useless. On a test I posted about the Darkmoon Trinket I was doing an average damage of 13k (crits + hits)/2 per trinket proc and on my ret even 15k hit & 30k crit.

Pretty sure they haven’t fixed Unheeded Warning, which doesn’t give improved damage to specials at all, even when it procs. With all the modifiers to our specials it would be an interesting choice, but as I ssaid it doesn’t work at all for us, while it works fine for druids, rogues. Ragnaros and the Rep Trinket look interesting I think. Up to then I’ll probably use Valor Trinket + Essence of the Cyclone.
