When I leave the house, I am focussed on the hike, the kind of pictures I want to take… I evaluate where the chances for good light are best, how to get Ninja into the mood I need for the pictures I want…

Then I run into someone, a neighbour e.g., and it just throws me off… I can’t get a word out, suddenly feel awkward, and that blocks me even further…
It is no wonder I learnt to avoid people. Today I talked to my neighbour the first time, in 12 years.

When I enter the forest all this falls off and I can breathe… then it is just Ninja and me… and passerbys…
Today I had the whole equipment set up… the tripod, reflector… Ninja stood in the shadows of a tree and was illuminated by the reflector as I was taking pictures… (see story)

2 passerbys observed us for a good minute and then asked „Are you taking pictures?“
I had to chuckle…

Wow, what a story. I relate to avoiding people and just wanting to be out in the forest with my dogs!
“Nope. He’s melting the ice” would’ve been my response. And if/when they look around and ask “what ice?” I would’ve stared dead into their eyes and answered flatly: “Exactly.”
I would have said no of course not, this is a secret government gamma ray blaster and this dog here is our latest experiment. Please move along and keep quiet.
